SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani met Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Qais Khazali on Sunday in Baghdad.
Talabani who was in the Iraqi capital, led a high-level PUK delegation, he aimed to conduct several “crucial” political meetings there, his office said.
In a meeting, the latest political developments with attempts to reach a national dialogue and new political stage were discussed, a statement from Talabani’s office said regarding the meeting with Khazali.
“Both sides stressed the acceleration of the steps for resolving the issues, and managing the country on the basis of the constitution and protecting the right of all sides,” the statement said.
Speaking about integrating efforts and finding solutions to get away from the political deadlock which is currently Iraq plunged into, Talabani told Khazali, “Our endeavors will continue to reach a responsible national dialogue.”
“We want to lead the country toward peace and stability in which the next government reflects all of the different opinions, safeguarding everyone’s rights,” Talabani added.
Talabani visited the capital on Saturday, prior to Khazali he earlier met Head of al-Azim alliance Muthana al-Samarai and Secretary-General of the Babylon movement Rayan al-Kldani.
It was a trilateral meeting during which all sides emphasized providing suitable ground for constructive dialogue. PUK President also explained his party’s enthusiasm to resolve the problems and dismount the tensions.
Talabani also insisted that the life of the people should not be sacrificed for political disputes.
Followed by the trilateral meeting, Talabni met Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Falih al-Fayadh as well.
Talabani and Fayadh’s meeting elaborated on the efforts to carry out a fruitful dialogue between all political forces for sake of overcoming the obstacles, according to his office.
