SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani released a statement following the attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran on the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday.
“We look at Iran’s attacks on the Kurdistan Region territory with deep concerns that resulted in dozens of martyrs and wounds with displacing families,” Talabani in the statement said.
“This is a dangerous and terrifying development that targeted the depth of the Kurdistan Region territory, we call on immediate stop of them,” Talabani added.
“There is no justification for such a violation, it’s a great danger for stability and tranquility of both Iraq and Kurdistan Region,” he continued.
“We demand that the Kurdistan region’s territory not be used to decide on the political and military disputes and that the civilians not be the victim of the conflicts.”
PUK President called on all sides to act restraint and use discussion as the base to resolve the issues, according to the statement.
He also called on the Iraqi government to fulfill its duty in protecting the Kurdistan Region and Iraq’s territory and preserving the country’s sovereignty by preventing the repetition of the attacks.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the families of martyrs and hope recovery for the wounded,” he said and adding that “as our national duty we tasked all of the related authorities to carry out their duties with loyalty and serve everyone.”
“I want to assure every side that targeting the Kurdistan Region people and disrupting our land’s stability with shedding the blood of our people will be never forgotten,” President Talabani added at the end of the statement.
