Gunman wounds 8 members of law enforcement forces in Sulaimani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — At least 8 members of law enforcement forces were wounded in Sulaimani province late on Sunday after a gunman opened fire and threw several hand grenades.  

Late Yesterday night local security forces reported that a gunman in Qaradagh district of Sulaiamani province has opened fire inside the security checkpoints in the area.

The incident happened after the gunman has passed through a checkpoint riding a motorbike and covering his face, repelled the security forces from questioning him, a local official told Esta.

“The criminal escaped the checkpoint after he opened fire and injured several security members,” and, “the security forces and police were chased him then he reached to an abandoned house in the area, fired back at the forces,” He said.

At least 8 members of police and security forces were wounded after he engaged in an armed confrontation with forces and threw 5-6 hand grenades.

“The gunmen confirmed dead, killed by the security forces amid the confrontation,” He added.
