Kurdistan Region reports highest daily rise in COVID-19 cases

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region recorded the highest single-day in coronavirus cases on Monday, according to the health ministry.

In a statement, the ministry of health said it had registered 1,045 new cases of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

As many as 249 cases were recorded in Erbil, 198 in Sulaimani, 519 in Duhok, three in Halabja, 66 in Garmian and 10 more in Raparin, the health ministry stated.

The ministry added that 16 patients had died from COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours, while 407 others had recovered.

So far, the Kurdistan Region has recorded a total of 126,191 cases, with 3,731 deaths and 111,494 recoveries, the ministry said.

Earlier on Sunday, spokesman of the health ministry warned that the Region was facing a “dangerous phase” of the coronavirus pandemic, as cases keep rising across the Kurdistan Region.
