SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Top Iraqi leaders on Monday congratulated Bafel Jalal Talabani after the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) leadership council named him President of the Party.
On the occasion of his election as sole President of PUK, Talabani received a congratulatory message from politician and former Prime Minister Adl Abdul Mahdi.
“You are the great successor for departed leader Mam Jalal,” Abdul Mahdi said.
“We were always believed PUK’s struggles in particular for reform in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region,” Abdul Mahid continued and said, “We are fully confident that he will lead the PUK in a way that preserves the union of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and carrying out fundamental reforms in this complicated situation.”
Talabani also received a message from Head of the al-Hikma movement Ammar al-Hakim expressing warm congratulations and wishing to Talabani to continue with the wise path of departed leader President Mam Jalal.
“We hope this step to be an opportunity to resolve the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad,” al-Hakim in the message said.
“We are proud of our brother Talabani, with you we can dream of a bright future for our nation and country,” General secretary of the Babylon movement Rayan al-Kildani in a congratulatory message said.
