SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani released a message on Wednesday over the ongoing political crises in the country and paralyzing Iraq’s judiciary system.
In a message, President Talabani said, “We have monitored the recent political developments that arose in our country. We are eager for efforts to unite and unify the abilities for the sake of national interests and to create a suitable ground for reform in a way that serves the people and makes the constitution the basis of working”.
“Our working principles are based on the policy of departed leader Mam Jalal, who had an important and effective presence in pre/post-2003 era,” Talabani stressed.
Talabani reiterated PUK’s eagerness to protect national unity saying, “PUK continues the path that reiterates its enthusiasm for the principles of joint national work for the sake of preserving newly born democracy, to build federal, independent, prosperous Iraq”.
He also emphasized protecting unity, national efforts, and overcoming dialogue language as well as fruitful understanding, and abiding by the constitution which the country has voted for as a document for development, self-revision, and commitment to its sections, according to the message.
President Talabani expressed his concern regarding the rally held by the supporter of Muqtada al-Sadr on Tuesday, demonstrating outside the Supreme Judicial Council and parliament buildings in the Iraqi capital, paralyzed the country’s highest judicial authority.
“Like all national forces, we believe in the necessity of the separation of power as a fundamental base to build a civil and democratic state. We are confident that this is the responsibility of different parties to comply with these principles, particularly the independence of the judiciary, and protecting the rights of citizens and constitutional institutions in the country” He said.
“We repudiate such an incident that happened over the Supreme Judicial Council, all political forces shall prevent the repetition of such actions” He added.
Talabani in the message promised that PUK has the full commitment to overcome dialogue and preparing a suitable political ground that is capable of declaring a reform project relying on an approved program by all parties so that it can achieve the necessary reforms and start building and developing the country.
“We support the national demands for reform and reiterate that the protection of the country and its stability along with the protection of the rights of citizens and going against corruption, requires the provision of a suitable ground for all effective political forces and, above all, serious and loyal national dialogue,” Talabani said.
“We have no choice but to unite and launch a dialogue with a compassionate heart, and a mind that has awareness of the dangers that threaten our Iraq and our new democratic political experience” President Talabani continued.
