PUK President receives U.N. special envoy to Iraq Jeanine Hennis-plasschaert

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Jalal Talabani received U.N. special envoy to Iraq Jeanine Hennis-plasschaert on Tuesday in Sulaimani.

In a meeting, the political developments, Iraq’s political deadlock situation, and unifying efforts toward national dialogue were discussed, and their views were demonstrated.

During the meeting, President Talabani stressed constitutional and political solutions saying, “PUK supports to success national constructive dialogue with the participation of all parties to be the motive to escape the country from this unwanted situation”.

“PUK has never been with the postponement of the elections, rather we want to possess a modern law that suits the Region’s situation and have national consensus because such a crucial and fateful issue requires compromise and agreement between all parties,” President Talabani told Plasschaert regarding the issues related to the Kurdistan Region upcoming parliamentary election.
