SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Seven people died amid an explosion in a military hospital in Najaf according to Iraqi media reports on Monday.
Inside a military base hospital that belongs to Saraya al-Salam, the military wing of influential Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, a blast occurred and Iraqi sources said at least 10 casualties were reported.
“The base is located in Najaf and seven people died including three wounds,” said Iraqi media.
The Iraqi news agency cited a statement from Saraya al-Salam as saying that the explosion was caused by gas leakage in an oxygen cylinder in the hospital.
“The cylinder exploded due to gas leakage and high-temperature degrees,” Saraya al-Salam told INA.
Saraya al-Salam or peace Brigade is a part of the pro-Iran Popular Mobilization forces in Iraq, however, the group is operating under the command of the Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and loyal to his political movement of the Sadrist.
