SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan’s temperature is expected to rise by one to two Celsius degrees on Friday, the directorate of meteorology and seismology said on Thursday.

The directorate said temperatures would reach 43 degrees in Erbil, 41 in Duhok, 40 in Sulaimani, 41 in Halabja and 45 in Kirkuk on Friday.

This sudden rise in temperature is coinciding with the second year of drought that hit the Kurdistan Region due to low rainfalls. It is the third year in Iraq.

Despite the threats of climate change, authorities have long warned that the Kurdistan Region will be facing drought and shortages of water due to low rainfalls and the construction of dams in Turkey and Iran, which has reduced water flows to the Region.
