SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi forces in coordination with Asayish forces in Sulaimani arrested two Islamic State (ISIS) suspects in the province, an Iraqi military spokesman said on Wednesday.

Yehia Rasool, spokesman for commander-in-chief of the armed forces, said two ISIS “operatives” were arrested in coordination with Asayish forces in Sulaimani, without giving further details.

On Monday, Rasool said the Iraqi counter-terrorism service in coordination with the general directorate of Asayish in Sulaimani thwarted an attempt by ISIS militants to carry out “terrorist acts” during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Iraqi and Kurdish forces have detained dozens of ISIS suspects in the Kurdistan Region in the past months.

Six more ISIS suspects were detained in Baghdad, Anbar, Saladin, Diyala and Kirkuk, Rasool said in a tweet.
