Iraqi border guards seize two kilograms of ‘pure gold’ in Halabja

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi border guards said on Monday its units had seized two kilograms of “pure gold” prepared to be smuggled into Iran from the Kurdistan Region.

The Iraqi border guard command said it received intelligence about smuggling of two kilograms of “pure gold” in the shape of “bullion” to Iran from Tawella sub-district in Halabja province.

The Iraqi border guards formed a team led by Brigadier General Kaka Bra Ramazan arrested a suspect in a “tight ambush”, the command added.

The team also seized “the gold bars after inspecting the vehicle”, it stated.
