SULAIMANI (ESTA) — One of the most wanted drug dealers has been arrested by anti-drug reinforcements in the Kurdistan Region’s Soran administration, said the directorate of anti-drug on Sunday.

The security forces arrested one of the “greatest drug gangs” at Gojar checkpoint of Soran city in Erbil Governorate after years of collecting information, the administration’s anti-drug directorate said in a statement.

“The suspect is from Raparin administration who used to live in Qaladze and Iran as well,” it said, adding that he was responsible for selling drugs such as methamphetamine, heroin and opium in the Kurdistan Region.

The directorate further said its forces had been able to seize large quantities of narcotic drugs and arrest “a large number of drug users and dealers” who had worked for the suspect.

“He supervised a large band of importing and spreading drugs,” it added.

“By arresting such a valuable drug dealer, drug [using] will see a decline in Erbil province.”
