Turkey has continued to halt flights to Sulaimani

SULAIMANI – (ESTA) Sulaimani Airport said, “Turkey has informed us they will continuous  to suspend flights to Sulaimani until the middle of next year”.

Handren Hiwa, director of Sulaimani International Airport, told Esta Media Network, “Turkey has extended the suspension of flights to Sulaimani until June 22, 2024 and the reason has nothing to do with the airport measures”.

“The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi government have held many discussions with the Turkish side and there is a political reason behind the suspension of flights,” he said.

Turkish Airlines had halted operations to Sulaimani Airport earlier on April 3, 2023. The airline then chose to prolong the suspension until July 3 of the same year, and then again until December 3 of 2024.
