SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi border guards have set up a military point near a village in the Kurdistan Region where Turkey intermittently bombs due to suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a local official told Esta Media Network on Saturday.

Iraqi border guard forces established the military point on Pataiy mountain, 500 meters from Hirure village in Kani Mase sub-district in northeast of Duhok, head of the village Azad Adib said.

“Today’s military point is the closest point to the village,” he added.

The Iraqi border guards have set up seven military points in different areas in Kani Mase sub-district to protect areas from Turkish bombardments.

The Turkish military has frequently bombarded the village using artillery and fighter jets. The attacks which Turkey said were against targets belonging to the PKK had caused civilian casualties and damages to agricultural fields of villagers.
