SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Five Islamic State (ISIS) suspects were detained in Kirkuk province, Iraq’s security media cell said on Sunday.
In a statement, the security media cell said the national security agency detained the five “terrorists” in separate places in Kirkuk.
“They worked in the so-called Diwan al-Jund within the logistical detachments,” it added.
Iraq declared victory over Islamic State in December 2017 but the militants have regrouped in the Hamrin mountain range which extends into the northern provinces – an area described by officials as a “triangle of death”.
