Global Entrepreneurship Week for 2020 begins in Sulaimani

Global Entrepreneurship Week for 2020 is held in Sulaimani, November 19, 2020.

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Global Entrepreneurship Week for 2020 commenced in Sulaimani on Thursday aiming to encourage youths to have their own business.

The global entrepreneurship week organized by Vim Foundation in collaboration with Mesopotamia Organization in the city of Sulaimani lasts for three days.

Deputy Director of Vim Foundation Ahmed Najm told Esta Media Network that the foundation aimed to culturize entrepreneur through such activities in the Kurdistan Region.

“So that our youths will not wait for the government and public sectors, because we see the public sectors don’t get paid now. So, an entrepreneurship individual should be produced,” Najm said.

The Vim Foundation will continue to hold the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Sulaimani annually, according to foundation’s deputy director.

Projects from 100 youths would be displayed during the event, Najm noted, adding that the foundation aimed to support 1,100 youths in one year.

“We will be supportive morally such as training and courses and financially, which starts from $6,000 to $12,000,” he continued.

A number of Kurdish and foreign officials are expected to participate in the event. Kurdish Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani is also expected to attend global entrepreneurship week on Friday.

The Global Entrepreneurship Week is founded in 2008 and aims to inspire millions each year to explore their potential while fostering connections and increasing collaboration within their ecosystem to empower entrepreneurs and strengthen communities.
