SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Two Kurdish Kolbars (porter) were shot dead by Iranian security forces in northwestern Iran on Wednesday, a rights group said.

Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said Iranian forces had opened fire on a number of Kolbars on the border area near Oshnavieh, or Shino in Kurdish, on Wednesday.

Two Kolbars, Hakan Mohammad Zada and Wasim Fardin Zada, were killed, the organization said.

Kolbars carry goods across the mountainous border between Iran, Iraq and Turkey on their backs. They frequently come under fire from Iranian border guards.

Hengaw said earlier this month that three Kolbars were killed and 11 others wounded from live fire from the Iranian and Turkish forces in Iranian Kurdistan in October.
