International book fair kicks off in Sulaimani city

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Sulaimani International Book Fair opened on Wednesday in Tasluja area in west of Sulaimani.

More than 220 centers and publishers as well as book stores from 18 countries will exhibit thousands of their titles during the second Annual Sulaimani international book fair, according to officials there.

Director of Relations at the book fair Shawqi Omer told Esta Media Network that the participants were from Europe, Africa and Asia.

As many as 2.5 million books from abroad will be available for purchase across a range of genres, Omer said.

The book fair is open from 10:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. (Erbil time) and will last for 10 days.

Director of the event Marwan Hama Khurshid said a market had also been opened in the show for the local and foreign companies to display daily essentials.

The first Sulaimani International Book Fair began on November 14, 2019 to mark the 235th anniversary of the city’s founding. It lasted for nine days.
