SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Bafel Jalal Talabani met with Shia leaders of Coordination Framework in Baghdad on Monday, according to his office.
A Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) delegation led by Talabani arrived in Baghdad earlier on Monday to discuss the formation of a new government with the political leaders in the Iraqi capital.
The delegation held talks with Coordination Framework leaders, including Nouri al-Maliki, head of State of Law coalition, Haider al-Abadi, head of Nasr alliance, and Qais Khazali, secretary-general of Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement, Talabani’s office said in a statement.
They discussed the formation of a new government in Baghdad as well as efforts to overcome issues and obstacles, the statement read.
They also stressed on “the language of dialogue and joint understanding”, the statement said.
The leaders reiterated that the issues should be resolved through talks and dialogue and that “an appropriate solution should be found to overcome obstacles in front of the formation of a new government”, according to the statement.
Both sides also agreed that a “strong and serviceable government should be formed in a way that responds to the wishes of all Iraqi nations and components”, Talabani’s office said in a statement.
