Peshmerga ministry to suspend salaries of service members who don’t get vaccines by Jan 20

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Peshmerga said on Monday it would suspend salaries of members of the Peshmerga forces if who don’t get coronavirus vaccines by January 20.

“The Ministry of Peshmerga warn all the directorates and military units to receive vaccines at the nearest health center as soon as possible,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added that deadline to get COVID-19 vaccines would be January 20.

“Anybody who isn’t vaccinated after that date will face legal actions, its salaries will be suspended,” it stated.

Authorities in the Region have intensified efforts to push public servants to receive vaccines, as infections by the virus are on a rise.

The Kurdistan Region has recorded 1,336 new cases and three deaths in the past 24 hours, according to official figures from the health ministry.

The Region’s total number of infections rose to 389,901, including 7,166 deaths, the ministry’s figures showed.
