SULAIMANI (ESTA) — An improvised explosive device (IED) hit a convoy carrying military equipment of the U.S.-led Coalition forces in Dhi Qar province, Iraq’s military said on Monday.

Iraq’s security media cell said in a tweet that one of the trucks with Erbil registration plate was damaged in the explosion.

“An explosive device targeted a convoy carrying military equipment of the International Coalition, which withdrew towards Basra governorate on its way to the State of Kuwait,” it added.

There were no reports of casualties.

Convoys carrying Coalition’s military equipment are frequently attacked in the southern Iraqi provinces.

U.S. and Iraqi officials blame Iran-backed militias for the attacks on the convoys.
