Iraqi foreign minister arrives in Iran

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning to meet senior officials in Iran.

Spokesman of the Iraqi foreign ministry Ahmed al-Sahaf said on Friday that Hussein would discuss with Iranian officials bilateral ties between Iraq and Iran as well as the regional developments and ways to avoid tensions and escalation.

Hussein’s visit came after his visit to Saudi Arabia on February 22. Sahaf said the minister’s visit to Riyadh was at the invitation of his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

They discussed regional developments, bilateral ties and was to strengthen them at all levels.

Sahaf said Hussein and his Saudi counterpart met to “discuss the importance of adopting mutual efforts to boost regional seucirty and peace, as well as review the impact of regional and international developments on their joint interests”.
