Charcoal smoke kills mother, four children in Akre

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A mother and her four children suffocated to death due to charcoal smoke in Akre town in the Kurdistan Region, an official said on Thursday.

Head of the health directorate’s press office in Akre Sabah Zuher said the mother and her four children suffered shortness of breath due to the smoke.

“They had used the charcoal for heating,” Zuher told Esta Media Network.

The mother was 42 years old and her children including two sons and daughters were 11-17 years old, Zuher said.

The official further said their bodies were transferred to the forensic department in Akre, southeast of Duhok.
