Turkey bombs two villages in northeast of Duhok: reporter

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish warplanes on Saturday bombed two villages in Amedi district, northeast of Duhok, according to Esta Media Network’s reporter.

The reporter in Duhok said Turkish fighter jets carried out airstrikes in Sargale and Sgeri villages at 12:30 p.m. (local time).

There were no casualties but the strikes damaged the area’s forests, the reporter added.

Turkey has taken its decades-old conflict with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) deep into the Kurdistan Region, establishing military bases and deploying armed military drones against the fighters in their mountain strongholds.

Most of the operations have focused on territory up to 30 km (20 miles) from the border.
