Co-president says PUK ‘eager’ for new Iraqi government to meet demands of people

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Co-President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani said on Thursday the party is “eager” for the incoming Iraqi government to meet demands of people.

Talabani held a meeting with French Consul General in Erbil Olivier Decottignies in Sulaimani, his office said in a statement.

They discussed the latest political developments and a new phase after Iraq’s October 10 elections.

Talabani discussed the PUK’s desire to form a new government based on national partnership and consensus, the statement read.

“We are eager for the Kurds to go to Baghdad in one team as a national front of Kurdistan and the PUK welcomes unity of the Kurdish parties,” his office added.

“The PUK is eager for the incoming Iraqi government to meet demands and needs of all nations and components,” the statement said.
