SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has put 38 individuals and 15 entities on a list of people and organizations deemed to support terrorism, including Iraqis, the official news agency WAM reported on Monday.
“The decision is part of the UAE’s keen efforts to target and disrupt networks associated with financing terrorism,” it added.
The UAE, home to the Middle East financial hub Dubai, has worked over the last few years to overcome a perception that it is a hot spot for illicit money. In February, the government created an Executive Office for Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing.
Names added to the list on Monday included individuals from Lebanon, Yemen, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and the UAE itself.
