SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Co-president Bafel Talabani said on Thursday the party will continue to make changes and that wants to provide a peaceful environment for people in the Region.
“Any decision made was for the sake of reform and public interests, and the beloved people of Sulaimani and the Kurdistan Region will benefit first,” Talabani said during a meeting with a number of tribal leaders and social figures in Sulaimani.
Talabani said the PUK considers the protection of national and patriotic interests as its duty and that providing a decent life for people will be the party’s priority.
“The changes will continue. We want to provide an appropriate and peaceful environment for our people and provide more services,” Talabani said during the meeting, attended by Qubad Talabani, deputy prime minister of the Region.
“Nobody is above law and all sides should feel safety and tranquility … We will no longer accept grouping and working for personal interests,” he added.
“We will root out violations of the rule of law and spying on political and social figures and people. We will not forgive anybody and we will hand them to court.”
