SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) politburo held a meeting supervised by Co-president Bafel Talabani in Sulaimani on Wednesday.
Members of the PUK politburo discussed several topics during the meeting, including political and elections issues.
They stressed an “urgent and PUK solution” to the internal political problems and to determine an “appropriate measure” including the protection of security and stability of the Kurdistan Region, a statement by the party said.
Regarding elections, the politburo stressed the activation of moral and material abilities to hold a “democratic campaign to succeed the Kurdistan Coalition list,” the statement read.
The PUK and Change Movement (Gorran) formed the Kurdistan coalition to take part in the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 10 as one list.
“The success of the Kurdistan coalition will bring a clear and new future for Kurdistan’s people to develop parliamentary and democratic struggle so as to resolve issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government, including the issue of the disputed territories,” the politburo said.
