SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish warplanes on Friday carried out airstrikes against suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Amedi district northeast of Duhok, Esta’s reporter said.

Esta Media Network reporter in Duhok said Turkish fighter jets bombed the mountain range in Chamanke sub-district in Amedi.

Casualties or damages remained unclear.

The reporter further said clashes often erupt between Turkish troops deployed to the area and the PKK fighters in the sub-district.

The strikes came after Turkish warplanes bombed two vehicles belonging to the PKK in Dilya village in Mangeshke sub-district, 24.5 km northeast of Duhok, late on Thursday.

At least four PKK fighters were killed in the strikes, the reporter said.

Turkey regularly carries out air and ground attacks against the PKK in the Kurdistan Region. It says neither the Iraqi government nor the Kurdish government has taken measures to combat the group.
