SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region and Armenia have reached a number of preliminary agreements during meetings between Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and Armenian officials.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) deputy premier paid a three-day visit to Armenia on Friday for talks on Armenia’s experiences in the fields of IT, vocational education and the development of youth abilities.
Talabani met with his Armenian counterpart Mher Grigoryan and Minister of High-Tech Industry Hayk Chobanyan in the first day of his trip, his office said in a statement.
They discussed ways to improve relations between the Kurdistan Region and Armenia, the statement read.
The Kurdish deputy prime minister reached a number of preliminary agreements with the Armenian officials, according to the statement.
“It was decided to form a joint team between the Kurdistan Region and Armenia in order to transmit Armenia’s experiences in e-government and developing information technology,” the statement said.
The Kurdish and Armenian officials also discussed connecting polytechnic universities in the Kurdistan Region and Armenia to each other so as to do joint scientific works, Talabani’s office added.
Talabani and his accompanied delegation including the minister of planning and the head of council of ministers’ Diwan also met with a delegation from the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises in Armenia.
“After discussions, a preliminary agreement was reached for Armenian companies to visit the Kurdistan Region and teach children and teenagers aged 10-18 information technology, which is a special program of the Republic of Armenia,” Talabani’s office said.
