SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Greece’s Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias will open his country’s consulate in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday, according to the country’s foreign ministry.
Dendias who is in Baghdad on an official visit will head to the Kurdistan Region for talks with senior Kurdish officials.
The Greek foreign minister will meet with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani during his visit to Erbil.
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs will inaugurate Greece’s Consulate General in Erbil, with local officials in attendance,” the Greek foreign ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Dendias arrived in Baghdad to meet his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein, President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
Dendias and Hussein will sign memoranda of understanding on political consultations between the two ministries, according to the Greek foreign ministry.
