SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi President Barham Salih met with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in Erbil on Thursday.
The two officials discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and relations between Erbil and Baghdad.
Salih, who is also a Kurd, arrived in Erbil on Wednesday and was welcomed by senior Kurdish officials including President Nechirvan Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani at Erbil airport.
The Iraqi president also met with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Masoud Barzani on Thursday. They discussed the political process in Iraq, the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for October 10 and challenges facing Iraq.
They also highlighted the relations between the Region and Baghdad, solutions to issues and coordination as a factor for stability and to revive all sectors in Iraq, according to a statement released by Barzani’s headquarters.
Salih is scheduled to meet with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani during his visit to Erbil.
