Iraq logs 3,214 new coronavirus cases, 52 deaths

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraq reported 3,214 new coronavirus cases and 52 deaths on Friday, the country’s ministry of health said.

The ministry said in a statement that it had recorded 1,381 new infections in Baghdad, 333 in Duhok, 299 in Sulaimani, 206 in Erbil, 159 in Kirkuk, 150 in Diyala, 135 in Basra, 127 in Wasit and 113 in Nineveh.

The ministry further said 59 more cases were in Diwaniyah, 51 in Najaf, 49 in Babil, 46 in Anbar, 28 in Karbala, 27 in Saladin, 26 in Muthanna, 18 in Dhi Qar and seven in Maysan.

The Iraqi ministry added that 4,282 patients had recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.

Iraq’s total number of COVID-19 cases reached 397,780, of which 9,735 died and 328,097 recovered, according to the health ministry.
