SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Dozens of Iraqis on Thursday protested outside the Turkish embassy in Baghdad against Turkey’s operation in northern Iraq.
A large number of security forces were deployed to the area to secure and protect the embassy from attacks, according to RT correspondent.
Turkey launched an operation dubbed “Claw-Eagle 2” against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Gara region on February 10, 50 km northeast of Duhok. Turkey announced the completion of the operation on Sunday.
The PKK said 15 of its fighters were killed and two others were captured by the Turkish military during the operation.
Turkey has conducted numerous ground and aerial cross-border offensives into neighboring northern Iraq to attack PKK fighters, who maintains bases in the region.
