SULAIMANI – (ESTA) Every year on December 11, the world observes World Mountain Day to promote awareness of the value of mountains to life.
About 13% of people on Earth, according to the UN, reside in mountains, and billions more dwell below them. Mountains play a major role in human lives by supplying 60% to 80% of the pure water on Earth.
The mountains hold great significance for the Kurds, as they have not only helped to preserve their history, people, customs, and culture, but they have also provided as a haven for the Peshmerga against their adversaries.
