SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Monday said “saddened” by the death of former prime minister of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi, and expressed his “deepest” condolences.
“It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of former prime minister of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi,” Barzani said in a tweet.
“I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and the people of Italy; my thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time,” Barzani added.
Silvio Berlusconi, the billionaire media mogul and former Italian prime minister, died on Monday aged 86.
Berlusconi, Italy’s longest-serving premie, had suffered from leukaemia and recently developed a lung infection.
He died at Milan’s San Raffaele hospital, where he had been since Friday.
