SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region Security Service (Ayaish) on Tuesday announced the arrest of a suspect who is charged with a murder incident in 2016.
The suspect is charged with murdering a man over a social-related issue in Sulaimani. Following committing the crime on 21 July 2016, he fled Europe, Germany, to escape justice.
“I found out the police have dismissed the case because they were not able to find any suspects for years,” the suspect said in his confession footage released by Asayish.
“As a result, I decided to return to the Kurdistan Region from Germany in April 2023,” he said. “However, I was immediately uncovered by Asayish and they arrested me,” he added.
Asayish said that the suspect is currently held in custody and will be handed to the law.
