Talabani’s tweet came after he was received by Prime Minister Barzani in the city of Erbil earlier today, where they stressed maintaining unity in Kurdistan.
In a meeting, Prime Minister Barzani and his Deputy Talabani highlighted the fiscal and administrative problems before the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), according to a press release.
They also agreed to resolve all disputes through dialogue with the cooperation of the entire ministerial blocs within the KRG, the press releases said.
It further added the two officials discussed the latest political situation of the Kurdistan Region and the area, and stressed maintaining unity and internal harmony, to preserve the national interests and constitutional rights of the Kurdish people.
The meeting marked a significant step to break the Region’s political impasses, where disputes between the ruling parties of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), have seriously escalated.
Relationships between the ruling KDP and PUK have been seriously strained for months over matters related to the KRG.
The KDP and PUK have been at loggerheads over inequality in revenue sharing among the Kurdish provinces, the upcoming parliamentary elections of the Region, and amendments to the election law.
Consequently, Deputy Premier Talabani who also leads the PUK ministerial team in the KRG, has stopped attending the cabinet meetings, boycotting the KRG along with his team.
