SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Deputy of the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with Sectary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres on Thursday in Erbil.
“In the meeting, attended by the U.N. special envoy and the deputy head of the Kurdistan Region department of foreign relations, internal problems of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq were highlighted and stressed addressing them through dialogue,” according to a statement by the deputy prime minister’s office.
At the start of the meeting, Guterres discussed the role and reputation of President Mam Jalal, the statement said.
“As an old friend of President Mam Jalal, I demand you to put aside the problems and the resolution of the Kurdistan Region’s internal issues to protect the people’s interests,” Guterres said, according to the statement.
Moreover, the two sides also discussed Erbil-Baghdad issues. They emphasized an understanding foundation for the sake of the Iraqi nations.
The office added that Talabani had deeply discussed political issues of the Kurdistan Region, demonstrating his perspective on the issues.
