Above 252,000 families received kerosene, says KRG

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Thursday said that above 252,000 families have received kerosene.

The Department of Information and Media revealed that until January 10, the KRG has delivered 401,000 liters of kerosene to 252,000 families in the Region, it said in a statement.

“So far, 50,480,200, liters of kerosene had been delivered to the citizens,” the statement said.

KRG’s statement coincides with the citizen’s constant blame over the government’s failure to deliver kerosene which is a common method of warmth in the Region.

Earlier, on Wednesday, residents of Penjwen district in Sulaimani province took streets against the government’s failure to deliver enough kerosene.

Penjwen residents announced a general strike, calling on the KRG to deliver kerosene and provide enough electricity as severe cold has engulfed the area.

Penjwen which lies in the eastern of Sulaimani province is known for its strategic location, which closely bordering with Iran and has Bashmakh international border Iraq-Iran border crossing.

It’s the coldest area during the winter where temperatures stand degrees below zero Celsius.
