Kirkuk’s court sentences convict to death for murdering Kurdish political activist

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kirkuk’s court on Thursday sentenced a convict to death for murdering a Kurdish political activist there.

A while back, on April, 1 this year, a Kurdish political activist and the Deputy Chief of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) office of Kirkuk’s Panja Ali area, Rebwar Muhammed was shot dead by a suspect.

The suspect murdered Muhammed in a drive-by shooting on a motorcycle, and he immediately died at the crime scene.

Kirkuk’s court has sentenced the suspect to death, after collecting concert evidence on the crime. The investigation Judge of the court has issued the decision.

In the meantime, the suspect has admitted to the murder, according to the court.

The court did not further elaborate on the case, providing no more details about whether it was a political-related issue or a social one.
