SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A court sentenced a suspect to death on Wednesday charged with killing a Yazid man and his 6-year-old daughter in Duhok.
In early August a 42-year-old Yazidi man, Faruq Mirza with his 6-year-old daughter, Akheen were reported missing after they left their residence in Zakho’s Cham Mshko camp.
A while after, the bodies of Mirzan and Akheen were found buried inside a farm in Zakho’s vicinity.
After a week when the bodies were recovered police in Duhok announced that they arrested the suspect over that terrible crime.
Following a short hearing session in court due to the presence of concrete evidence the court decided to sentence the suspect to death.
During the session, the defendant admitted to the murders.
The victims used to live in a camp for internally displaced people since they fled from their hometown after the Islamic State terror group 2014 invaded Yazidis-populated areas in Iraq.
