Bafel Talabani: we will need our friends to build more prosperous region

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Co-president Bafel Talabani said on Tuesday the Kurdistan Region will need its “friends” in building a more prosperous and developed region. 

Talabani held a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Iraq Prashant Pise in Dabashan area in Sulaimani city on Tuesday.

Talabani and Prashant discussed the development of relations and more coordination between the two sides in a way that serves the high interests, the PUK co-president’s press office said in a statement.

“In the context of our efforts to build a more prosperous and developed region, we need help and support from our friends so as to be with us in improving all aspects of life,” Talabani said.

He also reiterated the PUK’s desire to develop and build a “firm and friendship relation” with India on the basis of mutual interests, expressing the party’s support in that regard, according to the statement.
