SULAIMANI (ESTA) — During the past 24 hours, 100 students of one school were received by the hospital in Sulaimani due to suffering from diarrhea and vomiting after their tuck-shop reportedly served contaminated food.
The Health directorate of the city said during Wednesday-Thursday hours 100 schoolkids have been received by the pediatric hospital, they fell ill with the symptoms of intense diarrhea and vomiting.
The Health Directorate has formed a probe committee to identify the possible cause of such a massive number of diarrhea and vomiting cases among the students of one school.
Sulaimani Health Directorate did not reveal the name of the school. But it closed the tuck-shop.
“We were soon reached to the school and launched investigations, testing the foods of the tuck-shop and water reserves,” Head of the committee Rekan Jamal told Esta.
“The Most possible cause is that the tuck-shop has served contaminated chicken sandwiches,” Jamal said. The committee is yet to completely confirm that.
“100 school kids fell ill together, this is a public right and the owner of the tuck-shop or anyone who is involved will face hard punishments if they were found to be guilty,” Jamal added.
