Several unknown gunmen kidnap Erbil police official

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The fate of an Erbil police official remained unclear after being kidnapped by several unknown gunmen, Esta has learned.

According to information Esta has obtained, colonel Bahzad Hussein, ranking police in the General Directorate of customs of the Kurdistan Region was kidnapped on Thursday.

The General Director of customs of the Region, Haydar Omar Ali, confirmed the report on the kidnapping of the colonel in Erbil’s Kani Qrzhala area.

Ali told Esta that the colonel is Akre’s citizen. He had a political affiliation with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), according to his words.

He further stated that several unknown gunmen have kidnaped the colonel.

The security forces did not deliver any response after Ali attempted to reach them regarding the colonel’s kidnap, he said.

Esta Media Network tried to reach the spokesman of Erbil police to comment on the incident, Hogr Aziz. However, the spokesman was not available.

The colonel’s fate remained unclear so far and Ebril officials have yet to comment on the case.
