SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Prime Minister of Iraq sent a congratulatory message to Bafel Jalal Talabani on Sunday after he was elected as sole President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
Earlier on Sunday, the leadership council of the PUK amid a regular meeting in Sulaimani discussed a wide range of topics related to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, then the council decided to name Bafel Jalal Talabani as President of the Party.
In the meantime, the co-presidential party system has been dismissed by the council and Talabani became the sole President.
“We extend you warmest congratulations and wish complete success to establish the pillars of democracy and freedom, and constructing our beloved country on the basis of peace, love, and coexistence between all individuals of our generous nation,” Kadhimi in the message told Talabani
