SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Iraqi authorities on Saturday repatriated 50 Islamic State terror group fighters in Syria according to a statement released by Iraqi security media cell.
“Through joint coordination, 50 IS-linked Iraqi terrorists have been repatriated who were detained in Syria” Iraqi security cell in the statement said.
“The process has been carried out in Rabia border point between Syria and Iraq, the repatriated terrorists have been received by the Iraq intergenic service and interior ministry to complete the procedure,” it said
During its more than decade-long civil war, Syria became a harbour for the Islamic State jihadist group, which controlled much of Syria and neighboring Iraq from 2014-2017.
The process of Iraqi repatriation who was once linked to the Islamic State terror group continues.
Earlier on Friday, At least 150 families consisting of 630 individuals who were associated with Islamic State terrorists were repatriated to Iraq from the Kurdish-run Syrian al-Hol camp, located in the Syrian Hasakeh governorate.
