One person found guilty over Lily cafe explosion in Sulaimani: exclusive statement

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — One person was found guilty on Monday over a gas explosion inside (Lily) cafe and lounge in Sulaimani downtown in which 13 people were severely wounded and excessive material damage was reported, the city’s spokesman of civil defense exclusively told Esta.

Earlier on May 12, (Lily) cafe and lounge crumbled completely after a gas leakage was detected, and nearly 13 people had severely wounded in the populous street of Salim in Sulaimani downtown.

Nearly two months passed since the blast incident, Sulaimani civil defense spokesman Rekan Jamal exclusively told Esta Media Network on Monday, “one of Lily’s employees had opened the gas system inside the cafe intentionally while he was removed the sensitive detector aimed to set a fire on hookah coal”, and “thus resulted in gas accumulation after it was leaked in the result a blast occurred”.

“The employee is now detained and interrogations are ongoing” Jamal added.
