SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Security forces in Erbil province detained two young men who were captured by the Turkish military in Bradost region 10 days ago, their families confirmed to Esta Media Network on Tuesday.
On Dec. 31, Akram Khalil and Zedan Nabi were captured by the Turkish military in Bradost region, northeast of Erbil.
They were released six days after their detention, according to their families.
“The two youths were arrested by the Asayish forces in Mergasur six days after they were released by Turkey,” their families told Esta Media Network.
“So far, we have no information about them and Mergasur Asayish has given us no information about their fate,” they said.
The Turkish military has built a number of bases in the Bradost region. The army has warned civilians in the area of not getting close to the zone they are stationed.
Several other people who approached the bases were detained last year.
The Turkish military has set up dozens of bases and points in the Kurdistan Region, according to Kurdish authorities.
Turkey conducted numerous ground and aerial cross-border offensives into the Kurdistan Region in 2021 to attack the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters, who maintains bases in the region.
