PUK, KDP to discuss elections in Kurdistan Region – source

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) will hold a meeting on Wednesday to discuss elections in the Kurdistan Region.

Officials from the PUK and KDP election departments will meet in Sulaimani at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, a PUK source told Esta Media Network.

They will discuss the parliamentary elections and the election system in the Kurdistan Region, the source said.

“The PUK committees formed for issues related to the Kurdistan Region and the formation of a new Iraqi government will also meet with the KDP and other parties,” the source noted.

The two parties decided to form three joint committees to work on the formation of a new Iraqi cabinet and elections and electoral commission in the Kurdistan Region in their previous meetings.

The Kurdistan Region held parliamentary elections in September 2018. Parliamentary elections are held every four years in the Kurdistan Region. A minimum quota of 30% of seats in the 111-seat house is reserved for women and 11 seats for parties representing minorities.
